Welcome to The site that will hopefully give you a little more information about Civil Funerals.

Civil Funerals are now becoming commonplace in the UK, being an alternative to a religious or atheist Funeral Ceremony.

A Civil Funeral Ceremony puts the emphasis on the life of the deceased, not the beliefs of the person officiating. Each ceremony is written to try and capture the essence of the person who has died using words, music and personal reminiscences. Putting into words, in a dignified way, what needs to be said.

I am Marc Oxley, a Civil Funeral Celebrant living in Rutland. I have worked with Funeral Directors in Rutland,  Northamptonshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire. I am a Fellow of the Society  of Bereavement Practitioners.

I am an associate Member of the Association of Green Funeral Directors

I am also a former Chaplain to the High Sheriff of Rutland.

I trained as a Civil Funeral Celebrant with the Institute of Civil Funerals in March 2006. Since then I have officiated at over 1040 Funerals in Crematoria, Municipal Cemeteries and Green Burial Sites as well as private homes. Sizes of congregations have ranged from 3 to 300; I hope and trust that all the ceremonies have been well received.
